The sea never holds the moon still. It breaks her into a thousand restless pieces, every ripple taking a little of her light and scattering it. And yet the path still comes, broken and moving, all the way to the shore, all the way to wherever you happen to be standing.
Most of this painting is darkness, and that's deliberate. The moon doesn't ask the night to leave before she shines. She rises into it and lets the water tremble and shift. What she gives isn't a perfect reflection. It's an honest one.
For anyone standing on a dark shore, wondering if the light knows where they are: it does.
