I painted this one slowly. I kept stopping. It's a rainy walk. Nothing special, really — just the two of us, a grey sky, wet pavement, and Ollie dragging his paws like the world was ending because of a bit of drizzle. He hated the rain. Every single time, he'd stand at the door giving me that look — the one that said, "you cannot be serious." And every single time, I laughed, clipped on his lead, and out we went anyway. I didn't know then how much I would miss that look.
Every one of those mundane, ordinary, rainy Tuesday walks was a gift. I just didn't always know to hold it that way.
