My parents always had a bat flying around their house – we never knew where it lived but it came by every evening and swooped overhead. Now, I see them flying low under the trees just after dusk – one came so close I could feel the air move between us. With this I tried to capture how I thought the little face of a bat might look whilst in rest – steady but watchful and wrapped in its own black winged vest.
